Welcome to our NAMI Alameda County South affiliate website.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness.

If this is an emergency please call 911 and ask for a CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) trained officer.

                                 You are not alone!

We were just approved as a new NAMI affiliate by NAMI National
on March 16, 2012. (New Website under construction)

We are excited about our plans to implement many of the NAMI Signature Education Programs and other NAMI Programs to meet our local community's mental health needs.  With caregiver programs in English established, we will be focusing on implementing NAMI programs with consumer participation and those to meet ethnic and cultural needs of our community.

We completed two Family to Family classes in 2012 and plan to offer a minimum of 3 NAMI Family to Family Classes in English/year in South County starting in 2013.

We have completed 2 NAMI Family to Family Classes this year and our third is scheduled to start on August 29, 2013 from 6:30 to 9:00pm
.

In the meantime, you can check the National and California State websites for programs offered by other near by Affiliates.

Our first
IOOV (In Our Own Voice) presentation was made at JGPP (John George Psychiatric Pavilion) in San Leandro on June 7, 2012 in Unit C.  In the month of June 2012, we made 7 IOOV presentations at JGPP acute care, one at Villa Fairmont sub-acute care and one at Fairmont Psychiatric Outpatient to 184 loved ones, caregivers and providers in a total of 9 presentations.  This was accomplished with the support of NAMI Santa Clara County.  For the most part, all evaluations were exceptional.

We are now making IOOV presentations to the John George Psychiatric Hospital's new hire staff on a montly basis.  If interested in attending one of these presentations, place contact us for the next date and time of available presentation.

Programs planned for implementation by NAMI ACS are Peer to Peer in both English and Spanish. We have trained a Parents and Teachers as Allies team and "Ending the Silences" teams.

We are bringing "Ending the Silence" to high schools in Fremont, Union City, Hayward and Oakland.  Also, we are conduction ETS presentations at the College of Alameda. Contact us for more information about this program.

We had a very successful NAMIWalk in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on June 2, 2012.  Net Walk proceeds of $10,782.82 were disbursed to us.

We had a great walked in Golden Gate Park on June 1, 2013.
As you know, our education programs are offered to participants at no cost to them.  It is through your financial and volunteer support that we bring these much needed NAMI Programs to our community.
